Matcha provides a focused, mellow energy boost without the jitters or crash of coffee, thanks to the natural presence of L-theanine and caffeine. It is also rich in antioxidants, with a greater concentration compared to regular green teas.

Matcha is made from shade-grown tea leaves milled into a fine powder. A tea master selects and "blends" different leaves to accentuate certain flavors, achieving the desired taste profile. Regional preferences vary, with the classical "Kyoto" style prizing balance and umami, while southern Japan is known for lighter, sweeter matcha.

Enjoy the classic frothy thin tea ("usucha") at home, using 1 tsp (2 grams) of matcha and 3 oz of 170°F water. For matcha lattes, create a "matcha shot" with 1.5 tsp (3 grams) of matcha and 1 oz of water, then add 6 oz of your favorite milk. Cold brew matcha is also a refreshing option, combining 1 tsp (2 grams) of matcha with 6-8 oz of cold water.
