From our organic farms in Uji, Japan, Encha Matcha was founded with the mission of bringing high-quality, sustainably-grown matcha to the world. After tasting the most delicate matcha from an organic farm in Japan, our founder Li Gong left his Silicon Valley job and established Encha Matcha in 2014.

Our goal is to share the same rich, tender matcha Li Gong first experienced with everyone – from our farms in Uji to your home. We use ancient traditions for growing shade-grown, hand-picked, stone-ground tea leaves, which is what makes all the difference in quality, flavor, and health benefits. Encha's matcha is USDA Certified Organic, which means our farms are 100% certified organic, with no pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, and regular testing for heavy metals and harmful chemicals.

Encha offers three distinct grades of matcha, each with its own unique characteristics:

Ceremonial Grade Matcha: Ground from premium, first harvest leaves, this matcha has a delicate, smooth taste, best enjoyed when mixed with water.

Latte Grade Matcha: Ground from standard, first harvest leaves, this matcha is ideal for mixing with the milk of your choice, hot or cold, to create a delicious matcha latte.

Culinary Grade Matcha: Ground from premium, second harvest leaves, this matcha has a subtly sweet, earthy taste, making it perfect for cooking and baking.

Matcha differs from traditional green tea in several ways. Matcha leaves are shade-grown, producing more theanine, which offers a sense of serenity to balance the caffeine. The stems are also removed, resulting in a softer flavor. And by consuming the whole leaf, you get additional health benefits, like antioxidants.
