Our premium matcha tea is genuine stone-ground "Tencha" leaves, which is true matcha. Tencha is shaded from sunlight 3-4 weeks before harvest, producing the vibrant green color of matcha filled with "umami" flavor from the rich amino acids in the green tea leaves. Many "matcha" products on the market are actually ground "Sencha" and not true matcha powder. Sencha is not shaded and is made from ground stems and buds, leaving it dull in color and bitter in taste.

What Does Matcha Taste Like? Matcha is packed with "umami" (a Japanese term for elegant taste, savory deliciousness, and the fifth scientific taste, along with sweet, sour, salty, and bitter). With its rich aroma, the initial vegetal/earthy taste is followed by a mellow sweetness that lingers in the mouth.

Does Matcha Have Caffeine? Yes, matcha contains approximately 30-35g of caffeine per serving.
